The study involved tens of thousands of evaluations, collecting the opinions of thousands of employees across hundreds of companies. To be eligible for the ranking, companies must have at least 200 staff members. Global data firm Statista initially researched over 1,700 employers using industry lists, employer databases, and desk research. In addition, an open-ended question allowed for the inclusion of other eligible businesses not on the initial list.
Broadway Food Centre achieved an impressive rank of 104 with a score of 7.59 in the Restaurants and Food Services category. The evaluation process was conducted anonymously through online access panels provided by professional survey companies. This method ensured a representative sample of employees working part- or full-time for large companies in Singapore.
During the field phase of the study, eligible employees were also invited to participate via The Straits Times’ website. Thousands of employees accessed the online survey through this platform. The final sample consisted of over 17,000 employees, and more than 200,000 recommendations were evaluated.
The evaluation was based on two distinct criteria: direct recommendations and indirect recommendations. Direct recommendations measured employees’ willingness to recommend their employer to friends and family. Indirect recommendations gauged employees’ willingness to recommend other employers within their industry.
Employers received a calculated score based on both direct and indirect recommendations, with greater weight given to direct recommendations. If available, their score from the previous year was also factored in. The final ranking was determined by the total score.
The scores in the ranking range from 9.13 to 6.97, with the awarded companies scoring above average. This places the 250 awarded companies in the top 12 percent of eligible companies in the initial list.
As part of the study, respondents were asked an additional 43 questions to provide further analysis and editorial input. They rated their employer on various aspects of their job, work environment, and employer reputation using a five-point Likert scale.
